Hennessy XO Cognac
Hennessy XO Cognac is pretty much a stamp of status here in China. Translate those 16 letters (Hennessy XO Cognac) into Chinese and it means “I’m a big man, I’ve got money, I’ve got power and even though I don’t even like the taste of this, I’m going to drink it so everyone can look at me with awe and respect”. That’s one of the many reasons we’re not fans of the Hennessy monster that has taken over the world of sophisticated drinkers and stamped the work “IGNORANCE” all over it. Alongside what Johnnie Walker has done to distort the whisky market, Hennessy has done the same here in China.
Hennessy XO Cognac is the original ‘extra-old’ cognac, first bottled in 1870 by Maurice Hennessy for family and friends. Darker and much more complex than the VSOP, with appealing leather and tobacco notes and a touch of spice – a great cigar Cognac.
The term XO was coined for this very Cognac by Maurice Hennessy in the 19th Century. This blend includes over 100 eaux-de-vie.
Nose: Rich, full-bodied with dark dried fruit notes. Dates, plums, sultana.
