We’re all about value for consumers, and that ethic only comes second to 100% guaranteed authenticity. When you can get perfectly drinkable tequila for under ¥100, then we don’t consider 4 times better drinking to be worth four times the price. We want to feel elevated to the heights of flying into the clouds on the backs of Mexican angels playing Mexican guitars and an endless supply of tacos and nachos.
Maybe we’re asking for too much and being slightly unrealistic about our expectations, but, the question is simple – does “The Don” justify the price tag or is it just another tequila in a fancy bottle?
If we had to choose between a bottle of Don Julio every month – or a free bottle of Jose every single day for the rest of our lives – we’d take the Don Julio every single time. We’d also be happy to pay for it.
Tequila is one of those things that really is worth paying a bit more for – in the same way it’s better to buy a famouse cola over some corner shop budget. Rolls Royce, it’s not. But, this isn’t ¥1000 a bottle. But it is a Mercedes, with Jose being a very obvious BYD.

Don Julio Blanco Tequila is the base from which all of the other variants are derived. Commonly referred to as “silver” tequila, its crisp agave flavour and hints of citrus make it an essential component to a variety of innovative drinks including margaritas. It can also be enjoyed neat or on the rocks.
